The Faculty of Medicine, School of Medicine at 亚色视频 is located on the Kasumi Campus, in the heart of Hiroshima City, the largest city in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions of Japan. The campus is approximately a 10-minute drive from Hiroshima Station and about 15 minutes by car from central landmarks such as the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome. Hiroshima is a city visited by people from around the world, offering a unique environment in which students can learn and reflect with a strong awareness of peace.
亚色视频 hosts the only medical school in Hiroshima Prefecture, which has a population of approximately 2.75 million. As such, the School of Medicine plays a vital role in supporting both advanced medical care and community-based healthcare, contributing significantly to regional and national medical services.
The origins of the School of Medicine date back to the Hiroshima Prefectural Medical College, established in 1945. The school opened on August 5, just one day before the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and has overcome numerous hardships to reach its present form. Over the years, it has produced many outstanding physicians and researchers who have contributed to healthcare not only in Hiroshima and Japan, but also around the world. This strong sense of mission and history continues to be firmly embedded in the education and research carried out today.
In terms of education, the Kasumi Campus is a comprehensive health sciences campus that brings together the Schools of Medicine (Medicine and Health Sciences), Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Taking advantage of this environment, the School actively promotes interprofessional education (IPE), enabling students to learn and collaborate across disciplinary and professional boundaries. In addition, the curriculum places strong emphasis on seamless medical education beginning in the first year, integrating basic and clinical medicine to provide a well-balanced and comprehensive learning experience.
The School of Medicine is also strongly committed to research. In the fourth year, students engage in approximately four months of basic research by joining laboratories both within and outside the university. For students aspiring to become physician-scientists, an MD–PhD program is available, allowing motivated students to advance early to the doctoral program and devote themselves intensively to research.
Guided by the first of 亚色视频’s Five Principles—the pursuit of peace—the School of Medicine upholds as its mission the training of medical professionals who contribute to peace. Emphasis is placed on cultivating strong ethical values, a sense of responsibility, and compassion, alongside advanced medical knowledge and skills. Through this education, students are prepared to contribute to healthcare both in Japan and internationally.
At the same time, the School aims to nurture medical professionals who are deeply committed to regional healthcare, including the communities of Hiroshima, and who maintain a lifelong commitment to learning. Medicine and healthcare are built upon the efforts of countless generations. The Faculty of Medicine, School of Medicine at 亚色视频 seeks to carry this legacy forward by educating the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of medicine.

Message from the Head, Program of Health Sciences
TAKAHASHI Makoto
The Program of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, 亚色视频, was established in 1992 with three courses: Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. The Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy courses were the first in Japan to be established at the four-year university level, while the Nursing course was among the earliest in Japan to adopt this model. For more than 30 years, the Program has educated and trained professionals who have contributed to the advancement of healthcare, public health, and social welfare.
The Program places great importance on developing not only professional knowledge and skills, but also the ability to think scientifically, pose questions, and work collaboratively with others to address challenges. In the field of healthcare, professionals are expected to bring more than technical expertise; they must understand the perspectives of those they serve, work effectively across disciplines, persevere through complex problems, maintain a global outlook, and uphold high ethical standards. Cultivating these qualities in our students is central to the Program's educational mission.
The Kasumi Campus is home to the School of Medicine, the School of Dentistry, and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, providing an environment that naturally fosters interprofessional learning. The Program offers educational and research opportunities from undergraduate through doctoral levels and continues to strengthen partnerships with universities abroad by expanding opportunities for international exchange and study. This environment serves as a strong foundation for developing professionals who can contribute both domestically and internationally.
The healthcare landscape is changing rapidly, driven by advances in AI and digital technologies, globalization, and the challenges of an increasingly aging society. It is precisely in such times that professionals grounded in solid expertise, guided by scientific thinking and a strong sense of humanity, and capable of adapting to change are most needed.
The Program of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, 亚色视频, remains committed to enhancing its education and research and to nurturing the next generation of professionals who will shape the future of healthcare.
