On Monday, April 27, 2026, the Center for Academic Practice and Resources held the first Hirodai Talk Share “Freshman! Get together” on the 1F of the Student Plaza. Hirodai Talk Share is an event planned and organized by the Center’s student staff three times a year. The purpose of this event is to help students connect with each other across different affiliations and grades by talking about university life and other topics.
This time, the event was planned for new students. A total of 20 students joined from the School of Letters, School of Law, School of Science, School of Engineering, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life, and Smart Society Implementation Science Research Institute. During the event, the participants and student staff were divided into five groups and enjoyed talking together in a friendly atmosphere. As icebreakers, they played a self-introduction memory game and a game to find things they had in common. After that, they had free talk on many topics, such as recommended restaurants near the university, their hometowns, and how to balance study and part-time jobs.
Many participants gave positive comments, such as, “I was worried that I might not be able to talk well, but the atmosphere made it easy to talk,” and “I was happy to talk with people from different countries.” We also received comments such as requests for a longer event time. We will use this feedback to make future events even better.
The next Hirodai Talk Share is planned for June or July. More details will be announced on the website and on Momiji. The student staff look forward to seeing you again.
