ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ's proposal (10-year plan, 11 billion yen in total)* was selected for JST's ¡°Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation,¡± which will support 379 students annually.

ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ has been selected as an implementing institution for " Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation" proceeded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), supports for 379 students annually since FY2024. The number of the supported students in FY2024 is more than currently supported by the ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ Graduate Student Support Project, which is 358.

In this program, ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ provides 2,280,000-2,400,000 yen per year per selected doctoral student for research support (equivalent to living expenses) and 400,000 yen per year for stipends. 1) To support free, challenging, and integrative research by doctoral students that is not bound by existing frameworks, 2)To provide an environment in which students can devote themselves to research by providing an amount equivalent to living expenses, 3) To promote excellent doctoral students to become doctoral candidates who can work not only in academia, such as universities, but also in industry, particularly in the corporate sector, and to develop human resources who can contribute to ¡°science, technology, and innovation in Japan¡±.

ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ has been implementing the ¡°Program for Developing and Supporting the Next-Generation of Innovative Researchers¡± since FY2021, with the aim of creating an environment in which doctoral students can devote themselves to research with peace of mind, and to support, foster, and encourage doctoral students who will contribute to future science, technology, and innovation in Japan and lead the world. The program is designed to support, nurture, and encourage doctoral students who will lead the world. With the adoption of this program, we will promote this program by making more students eligible for support. This program aims to foster ¡°human resources who will support the creation of science, technology, and innovation that will contribute to the realization of Japan's future society (Society 5.0)¡± by creating comprehensive knowledge through collaboration among researchers and students in diverse fields and disciplines, utilizing the university's unique and comprehensive strengths, including specific fields of study and human and social sciences. The program aims to foster ¡°human resources who will support the creation of science, technology, and innovation that will contribute to the realization of the future society (Society 5.0) that Japan aspires to. The selected doctoral students will receive a research grant (equivalent to living expenses), research expenses, and will also be provided with opportunities to study at overseas research institutions, acquire transferable skills, and various measures for career development and training.

In addition, HU SPRING, an emergent forum for students to interact and collaborate beyond their fields of expertise, will be established to provide a forum for discussion on approaches to solving social issues and realizing world peace.

Through this and other support programs, we will create an environment in which students can devote themselves to research and contribute to the creation of science, technology and innovation in Japan.

This program is planned to last for 10 years with a total amount of 11 billion yen under the proposal of ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ, not a 10-year budget secured under the JST¡¯s ¡°Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation¡±.
