【Recent highlights】
Our laboratory was newly launched under a restructured system on April 1, 2025.
From the perspectives of pharmaceutical sciences and clinical pharmacy, we identify medical challenges emerging in clinical practice and address them through both basic and clinical research approaches. In addition, we are actively engaged in drug discovery research targeting intractable and rare diseases, aiming to develop innovative therapeutic strategies that meet unmet medical and societal needs.

At the undergraduate level, we are responsible for lectures in clinical subjects such as Clinical Medicine and Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacoeconomics, and Clinical Evaluation, as well as Pharmacy Practice.
At the graduate level, we offer courses in clinical pharmacotherapy, translational research, and DDS, aiming to foster professionals capable of bridging basic research and clinical applications.

Furthermore, through engagement in individual research projects, students in our laboratory are trained to develop problem-identification skills, logical thinking, presentation skills, communication abilities, and leadership for their future careers.

1. Basic and Clinical Research for the Proper Use of Medicines
We aim to maximize the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy by establishing scientific evidence for the proper use of medicines based on both basic and clinical data.

2. Elucidation of Protein-Binding Characteristics
Focusing on the binding properties of drugs to plasma proteins, we investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying pharmacokinetics and drug–drug interactions.

3. Drug Discovery Research Based on Hemoglobin for Intractable and Rare Diseases
We promote drug discovery research utilizing the functional properties of hemoglobin.

4. Albumin-Based DDS Research
We aim to develop advanced DDS technologies by leveraging the biocompatibility and drug-transport capabilities of albumin.

5. Development of Bioactive Gas Delivery Systems and their Applications for Therapeutics for Intractable Diseases
We are developing safe and effective delivery systems for bioactive gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide, with the goal of establishing novel therapeutic approaches for intractable diseases.

6. Development of Novel Photodynamic Therapy
We are working on the development of new photodynamic therapies utilizing DDS technologies.
